Acme United Corporation Expands Microban Agreement
FAIRFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 2008--Acme United Corporation (AMEX:ACU) today announced an expansion of its exclusive agreement with Microban International, Ltd. for the use of its antimicrobial technology in its products.
In 2008 Acme United launched its first Westcott office and school products with Microban protection. These were well received by customers and helped drive record sales and earnings during the 2008 back to school season.
The expanded relationship broadens distribution in Europe, Australia and Asia, and will include the launch of new personal care items in Europe. It will also provide antimicrobial protection in Acme United's new range of safety and first aid products soon to be introduced to the U.S. market.
Microban antimicrobial product protection is infused into the product during manufacturing, and inhibits the growth of bacteria for the lifetime of the product.
Walter C. Johnsen, Chairman and CEO said, "We are delighted to announce this expanded agreement with Microban. Consumer response to the launch of Westcott products with Microban exceeded our expectations and we are excited about our new product launches. We look forward to the continued strong performance of these products in 2009."
Acme United's safety and first aid products with Microban antimicrobial protection will soon be available in leading retailers, catalogs and on-line. Visit www.acmeunited.com for more information.
