FAIRFIELD, Conn., Dec 17, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Acme United Corporation (NYSE AMEX:ACU) today announced that it has won six GOOD DESIGN awards from the Chicago Athenaeum, Museum of Architecture and Design, for its Clauss AirShoc(R) line of garden products.

GOOD DESIGN is one of the oldest and most important design competitions worldwide. This year the Museum received more than 500 submissions from 36 countries. Acme United's six awards were for excellence in the Lawn and Garden tools category.

Walter C. Johnsen, Chairman and CEO said, "We are absolutely delighted to be recognized with these awards for innovation. We understand that it is extremely unusual that an entire product family wins so many. The recognition is a testament to the research, dedication and hard work that was put into making these tools."

The Clauss AirShoc(R) professional line of lawn and garden tools consists of pruners, loppers, hedge shears, grass shears, garden shears, and branch saws. The product family has titanium bonded, non-stick blades, Microban(R) protected handles and blades, and a tool-less system that allows the user to change blades, as well as switch from a bypass pruner to an anvil pruner in seconds.

Mr. Johnsen added that the product family is now in full production, with initial shipments beginning in the first quarter of 2011.
